Can you change a Bybit referral code on an existing account?
Understand the difference between adding a missing Bybit affiliate code and replacing an existing referral relationship.
Start with the account you already own
An existing exchange account is not automatically eligible for a new cashback connection. First establish whether your Bybit account is already associated with a partner, has never had a code, or simply has an unclear attribution record. Those situations require different answers. FeeBuddies can check whether your UID appears in its partner records, but entering that UID in our dashboard does not edit the relationship held by Bybit. Keep these two checks separate to avoid treating a submitted form as an approved move.
What Bybit currently documents
Bybit’s newer affiliate guide allows an unbound main account to add an Affiliate code within 14 days of registration. Ordinary user referral codes, institutional accounts and market makers are excluded; regional restrictions also apply. Eligible users can use Account Info → Join an Affiliate’s Community. A code cannot subsequently be cancelled or changed. Its older general account FAQ gives a broader no-change answer; the newer guide describes a narrow missing-code exception, not a transfer route.
A separate inactive-user policy also exists
Bybit’s February 2026 affiliate terms, section 7.7, separately describe inactive-user reactivation and future commission reassignment. The stated inactivity test concerns accounts registered from 1 September 2025 with less than US$1 trading volume over 180 consecutive days. This is not the ordinary code-editing flow. Ask Bybit and FeeBuddies whether the policy actually applies to your account and intended link; do not interpret it as guaranteed transfer eligibility.
Verify the destination before submitting anything
The FeeBuddies Bybit partner identifier shown in our guide is 42570. Treat the current partner page as your starting point and check the destination in the official exchange session. Do not substitute your FeeBuddies member ID, a wallet address, or someone else’s trading UID. If you cannot tell which identifier a form requests, stop and ask for clarification before submission. A screenshot of a promotion is useful context, but it is not evidence that your account has been accepted into that promotion.
Prepare a useful support request
We recommend a short request that separates facts from expectations: state that you have an existing account, whether you remember applying a code, and that you want to confirm the account’s current affiliate eligibility. Ask Bybit which published procedure applies to your account and region. Send FeeBuddies your Bybit UID through the account-linking flow, with the exchange response if relevant. Never share your password, recovery phrase or two-factor code. Redact unrelated balances and personal documents from screenshots; use the exchange’s authenticated channel if identity information is requested.
Confirm cashback after the relationship check
Once the UID has been reviewed, check its status in FeeBuddies before planning around rewards. Ask which products qualify and which reporting period a commission record belongs to. A referral-related exchange bonus, a reduction in the exchange fee and FeeBuddies cashback are different entries; do not add advertised percentages together without understanding their calculation bases. We do not promise a backdated payment or a processing deadline in this guide. Keep your trading decisions independent of an unresolved support ticket, and do not place extra trades merely to test eligibility.
Does opening the FeeBuddies link move my old account?
No automatic move should be assumed. Check the exchange’s account record and the FeeBuddies UID verification result; a clicked link is not approval.
Should I replace my account if the code cannot be changed?
Do not create duplicate accounts or try to bypass identity checks. Keep your existing account and request a clear eligibility answer through official support.
